Description
Running from July 23 to 4 August 4, 2026, Nevis Culturama Festival (Culturama 52) is a vibrant celebration of Nevisian heritage, community, and artistic expression. Over nearly two weeks, the island pulses with a rich tapestry of events: street parades, big-drum performances, jouvert morning revelry, pageants, cultural exhibitions, and nightly concerts.
Culturama dates back to 1974, rooted in a vision to preserve local folklore through masquerade, drama, calypso, and traditional dance. During the festival, Charlestown and other venues host everything from talent shows to spoken-word poetry, while masqueraders, Moko-jumbies on stilts, and dancers bring historical costumes and folklore to life on the streets.
Signature events include beauty pageants (Miss Culture Queen, Mr. Kool), calypso competitions, youth talent showcases, and the grand cultural parade that weaves together past and present in a colorful carnival of tradition. Food fairs and artisan stalls complement the performances, giving attendees a taste of Nevisian cuisine, craft, and community spirit.
Culturama is a homecoming for Nevisians and a cultural immersion for visitors. It honors the island’s history and identity, while forging connections across generations. For travellers to Nevis in late July and early August, this festival offers rich cultural encounters, high-spirited celebration, and heartfelt island pride.
